It was scorching hot in NYC for the past two days. You couldn't go out with long pants or tops with sleeves; it was just insane. But of course, I never check the weather and want to sport my awesome outlet find: a 90's acid-washed jean jacket. But alas, it was hot so the jacket became an accessory instead.

But anyways, this jacket is awesome! The sleeves are probably my favorite part, since they're a bit wide and gather at the ends. And for only $5 it was worth taking the time to find it.

Surfing on the web just to waste time sometimes has it's rewards: Last week I landed on Rodeo, a Swedish fashion/blogging conglomerate. One of the blogs featured on the site is from Agnes Braunerhielms, and what I could tell from Google Translate, is mostly fashion criticism and Lady Gaga posts.

Anyhow, Rodeo did a series of videos asking some questions to their bloggers, one of them being Agnes B. So, little did I know Agnes has amazing light-dusty-pink hair. The color is stronger around the roots, and just turns back to her natural (?) blonde hair at the ends.

Looking through scans of Japanese street style magazines like FRUITS and blogs like Tokyo Drop have become part of my reading hobby now. The people are more adventurous, loose, and experimental with their outfits. Think lots of layers and of course, shoes. And the preferred choice for shoes is platform shoe/boots in a multitude of colors and styles.

I've come to become completely obsessed with these shoes like worn above and shown below in a collage I made. After hours of Googeling, it was found that these shoes come from a small Japanese label, Belly Button from the store called Tokyo Bopper. The silhouette the shoe makes is quite astonishing.

This almost makes me want to become more funky and adventurous when it comes to creating outfits.

It feels so good to start blogging again.

I love the maxi dress, and even own a grey one with multi-colored paint splattered on it. Its length makes such a beautiful silhouette, takes advantage of those curves hidden by skinnies and jumpers, and brings me back to Ancient Greece. And add in silver jewelery like a nice cuff or upper arm cuff, shown below.

Vogue Paris' February 2011 issue definitely gives me good vibes from Emmanuelle Alt, especially from this editorial with Natasha Poly, styled by the editor-in-chief herself. Pretty much anything that is minimalist and soft-looking makes me swoon.
Oh, and check out this song that has been on repeat for the past few weeks, from Familjen, "Det lilla livet." The song also sends out some cool vibes.

So I guess everyone's received the news about Vogue Paris' future: stylist Emmanuelle Alt is the new Editor-in-Chief. Sure she has impeccable style, and was known for popularizing Balmain last year with the strong-shoulder blazers and cool denim. Alt also appears to love darker colors like grays and blacks, seen below from Jak & Jil's blog.

While she has great style, I've never been a huge fan of her work in Vogue Paris under Roitfeld's direction. Perhaps she will blossom her talent for 2011? Anyways, this is going to be an exciting year for fashion. What are some opinions do you guys have of Emmanuelle Alt?

Alexander Wang's S/S 2011 collection is by far the most outstanding collection from the cool, young designer. The clean cuts, subdued colors like eggshell white, aluminum silver and my new favorite pistachio green, and slinky fabrics make for a minimalist's space dream. Truly a big surprise from the usually trendy designer. But it won't be a surprise if this style comes to rule the closets of it-girls come 2011.

Yesterday was a big day, the first day of NY Fashion Week, and one of my favorite New York designers, Rachel Comey, unleashed her S/S 2011 collection, which in my opinion was meant to combat the extreme heat (if you didn't know, us New Yorkers have been living in an oven this summer with temperatures consistently over 90ºF). Her approach emerged as a minimalist's paradise. Sturdy fabrics and a clean color palette will be sure to keep any cool chick from the humidity.

As the wife and muse of Rick Owens, she must have a pretty wicked sense of style, and here she doesn't disappoint. I've been really busy the last weeks of summer vacation getting ready for my 3rd year in university. Shopping for some essentials was part of the plan, and this collage inspired by an old look from the purely amazing Hanneli Mustaparta. Karl Lagerfeld made the right choice in selecting New York City for the backdrop of the Chanel Autumn-Winter '10 ad campaign. Freja and Abbey are clad in fluffy knits and classic tweed, walking on barren city streets and fire escapes, which perfectly accentuate the collection's feeling.

Vogue Italia's August 2010 issue featured the silver-haired Kristen McMenamy on the cover, and also in a very impactful editorial, shot by Steven Meisel. The juxtaposition of images, primarily the oil in her hair, the dirty water and torn but beautiful clothes truly remind me of the late Alexander McQueen's obsession with death and it's hidden beauty.

There is recently a weird trend going on with hair. Perhaps it started with Mademoiselle Yulia's sea-green locks or with the Vogue Australia March 2010 editorial with Abbey Lee. Nonetheless, street style sites and even the runways are dipping hair ends in effervescent colors like sea-green, purple and pink. Paired with edgy clothes, this new hair trend brings about new life to the dark clothes worn today.

After fashion week, Coachella is probably the most anticipated event of the year. The cool gents from L.A. and across the country band up for 3 days filled with music, drinks, pools, and sweet street style. One look that was pretty prominent last weekend was the 90's inspired denim jacket. Worn over a bathing suit, embellished with studs, with the slightly faded blue color, it has become a staple for this upcoming summer. I did not abandon the blog; just felt like there was nothing really going on with fashion. Even with the magazines and fashion shows of February, there was nothing exciting, but rather some low points (R.I.P. McQueen). We were all stuck in a so-called 'inspirational rut.' But maybe the quick change in the weather will bring back some of the things we loved about clothes and photography.

Karamanea's collection is filled with body con dresses and huge geometric prints. But, my favorite piece is the black body con dress that once you turn around, reveals an open back with vines of fabric enclosing it.

Christmas went way too fast. But there was a small gift recently. I was sick, deathly sick with a case of the flu couple days after Christmas, and I went out walking in the city with of course my Christmas money. With just $30, I found my favorite piece of clothing this year: a faux mink coat, in a small thrift shop on a small street.

Although the shows were the talk of the town (those Alexander McQueen 10 in. heels, mon dieu!), it's the parties, like Sophomore's soiree and Purple Magazine's religious hang-outs, are where we can see the fashion elite romp in their own territories. Carine, Leigh, Chloë, Harley, and the rest run Paris like it's their duty to do so.

Countless hours of surfing the internet is worth it when you find a hidden gem amongst thousands of fashion sites, and one gem is Pixie Market's online shop. Pixie Market is a NYC shop in the Lower East Side, and has an online shop filled with some great clothes and accessories. Plus, they spend lots of time on styling, and it all pays off with these shots. All of the pieces they sell are great, but look at that zipper-crop top! Does everyone love this, or am I all by myself on this one?

This is a girl's dream outfit. Or, at least the outfit I made up in my head, filled with acid wash jeans, dainty florals, leather shoes and laces, and some slick accessories to make a 'L.A. meets Paris' look. The laced-up wedges are my favorite part of the outfit, which is just for $100 from Aldo.

Latin America has been surging into the style world with lots of new labels and magazines (read Ayo America!'s post on Regia Magazine), and Complot from Argentina is another example. The label is filled with funky pieces and throwback styles; something that every girl has been yearning. Complot is also holding a contest where fans post pictures of them wearing their clothes for a chance to be in their 2009 lookbook. Doesn't 'inspiración' ring a bell?

what is your current obsession? Wedge shoes. My favorite is these brown wedges from H&M. Yes, they tear up my feet, but it's a weird masochist feeling.

what are you wearing now? A sailor navy-blue-and-white top, black skinnies, and black sandals.

what is on your desk? My bag, bills, books from last semester, a clown cup holding all of my writing utensils.

what would you like to learn to do? Become more productive with my free time.

what’s for dinner? Seasoned chicken breast, a little bit of rice and beans, and salad.

what was the last thing you bought? Starbucks this morning.

Where do you spend most of your summer? At Astoria Park. It's beautiful, in front of the East River, tons of plaid-wearing boys on bicycles and trees galore.

if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Paris of course.

what languages can you speak? English and Spanish.

what do you want to be when you grow up? Work in a lab. I know it's not elegant, but it's a career in chemistry that attracts me. Somehow, everything makes sense when it comes to chemistry. There are no maybes.

what are your favourite websites? Hipster Runoff (I confess!), Hypem.com, Stockholm Streetstyle, le Cool Cats blog for sure.

if you were to pick up a pen right now, what would be the first thing you'd write? A to-do list.

if you you could be anywhere in the world at any point in time, where would you be? in Paris, at a party somewhere with Adèle (you know with who!)

+ something strange about you that most people don't know? I'm a dreamer. My head is filled up with so many wonderful thoughts about how to improve life and such, but I never get around to it.

It was my birthday yesterday (yes, June 1, 19 years old) and I discovered this blog by a self-proclaimed Unknown Hipster yesterday. The stories are long, but the drawings are fast and sweet. Look at Kaiser Karl, Garance Doré and Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) looking simply chic in crayon.

This set makes me proud of my heavy & death metal past. Still have a collection of In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Hatebreed and that eponymous 'Freddy vs. Jason' soundtrack. Even though they are stocked in a shoebox at the back of my closet and French touch is now my deal, it's hard to resist the studded bracelets and acid wash apparel. A freshly scanned American Apparel ad that goes back to French indie roots. Seems like everyone is in a Gallic-Libertines mood. NYLON seems to be in that same mood because they launched their own record label for the Plastiscines' new single, 'Barcelona', which is so fun & flirty for the summer (it's like 90ºF in NYC).
